Dental Restoration
A dental restoration is used to restore damaged or missing teeth. At Pearland Family Dentistry we can provide dental restoration treatments that will improve the functionality of your teeth and brighten your smile! If you need a combination of restorations, we are more than happy to provide them at our offices.
Composite Fillings
Composite fillings are one of the most common methods of dental restoration. We use tooth colored composite resin to make repairs and change the appearance of the teeth. The great thing about composite resin is that it blends naturally with the surrounding tooth, enhancing your smile and helping to prevent further damage to the tooth.
Damaged teeth can cause discomfort or even cut the tongue or cheeks if there are jagged edges. Composite fillings will result in a smooth surface that often looks better than the original tooth. This type of filling may not last as long as amalgam material, but you will feel much more confident in your smile.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are about much more than the appearance of your teeth. When a tooth is missing it has an impact on the surrounding teeth and bones. There is a relationship going on in your mouth that you may not be aware of. Teeth may begin to drift because the missing tooth is not there to support normal structure. The bones that hold your teeth also rely on the relationship with the tooth as it promotes re-growth of the bone.
Implants are a dental restoration that creates an anchor which supports other prosthetics such as bridges, dentures or crowns. The dental implant also restores the relationship that exists between the teeth and bone.
Dental Crowns
With dental crowns or “caps” we can restore a tooth that is damaged but still has enough healthy structure to support the crown. Just like with composite resin, crowns are tailor made to mimic your natural tooth color. At Pearland Family Dentistry we can also use crowns to improve the appearance of your smile.
If you have a missing tooth, a crown is used in combination with a dental implant to restore the tooth. You will be able to once again eat and drink normally, and you won’t be afraid to show your smile with confidence.
Dental Bridges
Bridges are another method of dental restoration that is used to replace missing teeth. A dental bridge is normally secured to adjoining teeth or through the use of a dental implant. Your dentist will consult with you to determine if a dental bridge is the right option for you.
